Text message terms & conditions
The rules of our appointment reminder and patient messaging program, in full.
SMS opt-in
By texting JOIN to (559) 875-5545, you consent to receive text messages from Gurinder Narain, MD regarding appointments, reminders, prescription refills, care instructions, and replies to your questions. Consent is not a condition of receiving care. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Your phone number will not be shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help. See our privacy policy.
1. The program
Gurinder Narain, MD operates a text messaging program for the patients of the practice at 800 N Street, Sanger, California. It exists to make scheduling and follow-up easier — it is not a marketing list, and we do not send promotional messages through it.
2. How to join
Text the word JOIN to (559) 875-5545, or tell the front desk you would like text reminders and give us the mobile number to use. Either way, you are opting in yourself — we do not enroll anyone automatically, and we never add a number we were not given for this purpose.
3. Messages you will receive
- Appointment confirmations, reminders, and rescheduling
- Notice that a prescription refill has been sent to your pharmacy
- Instructions related to your care, such as fasting before lab work
- Replies from our staff to questions you send us
- Occasional office notices, such as a closure or a change in hours
4. Frequency
Message frequency varies. Most patients receive a handful of messages a year, tied to their appointments; someone managing an active problem may receive more.
5. Cost
Message and data rates may apply. The practice does not charge for text messages, but your mobile carrier may bill you according to your plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure.
6. Stopping messages
Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will get one message confirming that you have been removed, and then nothing further. You can rejoin later by texting JOIN again. Opting out of text messages does not affect your care in any way, and the office will simply call you instead.
7. Getting help
Reply HELP to any message and you will receive our contact information. You can also call the office at (559) 875-5545, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
8. Carriers and delivery
Message delivery depends on your mobile carrier, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Because delivery cannot be guaranteed, text messages are never the only way we reach you about something that matters — anything time-sensitive is also handled by phone.
9. Not for emergencies
Do not use text messages to report an emergency or an urgent medical problem. Messages are read during office hours only. If you are having chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, or any other emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
10. Privacy
Your mobile number and your consent are not shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes, and are never sold. Standard text messages are not encrypted, so we keep health details in them to a minimum. The full terms are in our privacy policy.
